Veronneau leads Gloucester over Smiths Falls, 6-1

The Gloucester Rangers' Max Veronneau had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-1 win over the Smiths Falls Bears.

Veronneau's tallies came at 6:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester and 8:10 into the second to make the score 3-1 Gloucester.

Smiths Falls was stymied by Gloucester's netminder Doug Johnston, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Johnston certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.41 entering the contest.

The Rangers' penalty kill excelled, as Gloucester gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Rangers stifled the Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gloucester forced Smiths Falls goalie Cole Skinner to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Rangers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Gloucester averages 3.1 goals per game.

Gloucester also got points from Ryan Kuffner, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Gloucester also had goals scored by Zachary Borsoi, Diego Gagnon, and Liam Biard, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Matt Foget, who had three and Antonio Micucci, Joey Fallon, Vincent Guimond, Hunter Leishman, Matt Adams, and Jaren Burke, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers were unable to stop the Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Smiths Falls eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Bears were led by Josh Leblanc, who scored the team's only goal. Leblanc scored 16:28 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Chase Hawley picked up the assist.

Gloucester incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Skinner recorded 26 saves for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
