Behind a great game by Martin Frechette, who had two goals and two assists, the Cumberland Grads defeated the Kanata Stallions, 5-2. Frechette's tallies came at 14:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland and on the power play 14:35 into the second to make the score 2-0 Cumberland.Kanata's power play was ineffective against Cumberland's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Grads' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Cumberland had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Grads outdid their season average for goals scored. Cumberland averages 2.6 goals per game. Cumberland additionally got points from Travis Douglas, who also had one goal and one assist and Brandon Zullo, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Cody Kyle also scored for Cumberland.
