Casselman nets hat trick, leads Pembroke to 9-5 win over Brockville

Ryan Casselman lifted the Pembroke Lumber Kings to a 9-5 victory with a hat trick against the Brockville Braves.

Casselman notched his first tally 6:14 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:58 into the third and at 18:15 into the third.

Pembroke's penalty kill excelled, as the Lumber Kings gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Pembroke forced Braves' goalies to work in net, launching 38 shots and forcing 29 saves. Bo Taylor made 17 stops and Mitchell Datz made 12. The Lumber Kings' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Pembroke averages 4.2 goals per contest. The Lumber Kings were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 28 penalty minutes.

Pembroke additionally got points from Jesse Blais, who also registered one goal and two assists and Felix Chamberland, who also had two goals and one assist. Pembroke also had goals scored by Hudson Michaelis, Anthony Nellis, and Stephen Cooney, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Brett du Puy, who had one, Alexandre Boivin, who had four, and Fraser Turner, Brendan Valko, and Stephan Beauvais, who contributed two each.

Brockville struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

The Braves were helped by Sean King, who racked up one goal. King scored 4:06 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Pembroke. Jack Billings assisted on the tally. Brockville also got points from Tre Folkes, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Liam Folkes, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Brockville included Jack Gill and Dylan McCrory, who scored one goal each. More assists for Brockville came via Andrew Peski, who had two and Brett Van Stralen, Neil Robinson, and Jack Patterson, who each chipped in one.

Sean Green rejected 21 shots on goal for Pembroke.
