Carleton Place downs Nepean, 7-2

Jordan Larson grabbed one point to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 7-2 victory over the Nepean Raiders.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:14 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Carleton Place forced Raiders' goalies to work in net, firing 39 shots and forcing 32 saves. Francis Marotte made 13 stops and John Gilmer made 19. The Canadians' goal total was higher than their season average. Carleton Place has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The Canadians were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 21 penalty minutes. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Carleton Place also had goals scored by Willie Brooks, who had two and Adam Lloyd, Connor Merkley, Bryce VanHorn, and Maxime StPierre, who each put in one. More assists for Carleton Place came via Alex Robinson, Vinny Post, Andrew Dodson, and Craig Pefley, who contributed one each and Devin Campbell and Andy Sturtz, who each chipped in two.

Nepean was often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Raiders surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Nepean put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Carleton Place to score on any of its eight power plays.

The Raiders were helped by Brandon Belding, who finished with one goal. Belding scored on the power play 19:24 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Carleton Place. Nepean had gained a power play chance when VanHorn was whistled for slashing. William White picked up the assist. Nepean also got a goal from Josh Zizek as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Felix Page, Devin Fullum, and Mac MacSorley, who contributed one each.

Adrian Clark recorded 26 saves for the Canadians. Carleton Place ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Post was ejected from the game. The Raiders registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Nepean, Chad Malinowski was ejected from the game.
