Kuffner's hat trick boosts Gloucester over Smiths Falls, 6-3

Ryan Kuffner lifted the Gloucester Rangers to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Smiths Falls Bears.

Kuffner's first goal came 16:54 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:01 into the second and at 3:14 into the second.

Gloucester forced Bears' goaltenders to work in net, getting 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Cole Skinner made nine stops and Michael Pinios made 22. The Rangers stifled Smiths Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gloucester outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Rangers average 3.1 goals per contest.

Gloucester also got points from Matt Foget, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Gloucester included Joey Fallon and Nicholas Ngwafusi, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Max Veronneau, who had four and Antonio Micucci and Hunter Leishman, who contributed one each.

The Bears were helped by Karson McCartney, who registered one goal. McCartney scored 5:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. Smiths Falls also had goals scored by Brett Garvey and Nicolas Coates, who each put in one. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Daniel Lombardi and Josh Leblanc, who each chipped in one.

Gloucester's starting goalie, David Richer, made 13 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Doug Johnston, who stopped seven shots. The Rangers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Smiths Falls incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
