Smiths Falls downs Kemptville in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Michael McKenney gave the Smiths Falls Bears a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Kemptville 73s when he scored 1:38 into the extra period.

Smiths Falls came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Bears fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Kemptville's Tyler Young at 2:04 in the third period. Smiths Falls knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Kevin Groulx at 8:29 in the third period.

The Bears were led by McKenney, who finished with one goal.

Smiths Falls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kemptville power plays. The Bears' offense rang up 31 shots on the 73s' net.

Others who scored for Smiths Falls included Chase Hawley and Olivier Chabot, who each put in one. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Ryan Duhaime, Brett Garvey, Daniel Lombardi, Cody Bean, and Cole Busschaert, who each chipped in one.

Kemptville kept Smiths Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Pinios made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Kemptville also got points from Jason Tackett, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Alex Row also scored for Kemptville. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Tyson Kirkby, Brandon Cole, Erik Brown, Matt Tugnutt, and Shawn Cameron, who contributed one each.

The Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jacob Tugnutt rejected 27 shots on goal for the 73s. Kemptville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
