Pembroke stifles Ottawa's comeback, gains 6-4 victory

The Pembroke Lumber Kings came close to giving away a four-goal lead to the Ottawa Senators, but did just enough to escape with a 6-4 victory.

Pembroke led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Lumber Kings' Felix Chamberland scored at 13:52 in the second period to put Pembroke up 4-0.

Ottawa's power play was ineffective against the Lumber Kings' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The defensemen of Pembroke were also effective in the Senators' zone, and came away with two goals.

Pembroke additionally got points from Anthony Nellis, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Pembroke included Mitchell Mueller, Fraser Turner, and Adam Beveridge, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Stephan Beauvais, who had three and Cameron Hughes, Jesse Blais, Chris Minns, Ryan Casselman, Stephen Cooney, and Alexandre Boivin, who each chipped in one.

Ottawa's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Senators average 2.3 goals allowed per game.

Ottawa was led by Jim Pearson, who registered one goal and three assists. Pearson scored 14:15 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Pembroke. Joey Champigny picked up the assist. Ottawa also got points from Champigny, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Robert Michel as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Shawn Lynch, Matthew Cruickshank, Derek Varrin, and Johnathan Kovacevic, who contributed one each.

Jordan Piccolino made 20 saves for the Lumber Kings on 24 shots. Pembroke incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Senators' Ian Andriano stopped 22 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
