Carleton Place rides Therien to victory over Gloucester, 3-1

Guillaume Therien stood on his head and made 25 saves to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 3-1 victory over the Gloucester Rangers.

Carleton Place's penalty kill excelled, as the Canadians gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Carleton Place was paced by Devin Campbell, who finished with one goal. Campbell scored on the power play 2:40 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. The Canadians had gained a power play chance when Max Veronneau was whistled for roughing. Jordan Larson picked up the assist.

Carleton Place stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Canadians' offense rang up 38 shots on the Rangers' net.

Carleton Place also got points from Connor Merkley, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Stephen Baylis also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Ryan Daniel and Nicolas Mucci, who each chipped in one.

Gloucester was led by Liam Biard, who scored the team's only goal. Biard scored short handed 5:24 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester. The Rangers were on a disadvantage when Connor Eckenrod went off the ice for cross checking.

Carleton Place incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Gloucester's Doug Johnston stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Rangers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
