Rivers, Hawkesbury blank Kemptville, 2-0

Gunner Rivers recorded a shutout against the Kemptville 73s as the Hawkesbury Hawks picked up a 2-0 win.

Hawkesbury's penalty kill excelled, as the Hawks gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Hawkesbury was sparked by Damien Charette, who tallied one goal. Charette scored short handed 11:05 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury. An elbowing call on Pierre Ouellette put the Hawks on the penalty kill. Jason Brochu picked up the assist.

Hawkesbury stifled Kemptville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hawks forced the 73s goalie Jacob Tugnutt to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Hawkesbury also got points from Brochu, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from CJ Stubbs, who had one and Jonathan Cyr, who had two.

Kemptville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Hawkesbury power plays. The 73s did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Kemptville averages 3.7 goals per game. The 73s kept Hawkesbury's goalie busy throughout the game, and Rivers made 45 saves on 45 shots.

The Hawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Tugnutt recorded 33 saves for Kemptville. The 73s incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
