Rivers stymies Cumberland, Hawkesbury wins 4-1

Gunner Rivers had a standout game with 29 saves, and the Hawkesbury Hawks beat the Cumberland Grads 4-1.

Hawkesbury was sparked by Marc-Antoine Bourbonnais, who had one goal. Bourbonnais scored 8:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. Simon Houle picked up the assist.

The Hawks stifled Cumberland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hawkesbury's offense rang up 35 shots on the Grads' net.

Hawkesbury additionally got points from Ross Mandigo, who also registered one goal and one assist, Paul Vella, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Hunter Racine, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Pierre Ouellette, Jonathan Cyr, and Chris Harper, who contributed one each.

Cumberland's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Hawkesbury power plays.

The Grads were led by Ted McCabe, who scored the team's only goal. McCabe scored 2:22 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland. Reid Murphy provided the assist.

The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kevin Gollmer made 31 saves for Cumberland on 34 shots. The Grads totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For Cumberland, Matt Meininger and Brandon Zullo were ejected from the contest.
