Ottawa holds on for 4-3 win against GloucesterEarl Armstrong Arena Fri, Dec 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Gloucester Rangers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Ottawa Senators held on for a 4-3 victory. Ottawa made the score 4-2 on a goal by Brandon Watt at 4:38 in the third period, and Gloucester got as close as 4-3 when Joey Fallon scored 17:43 into the third period. Carl Faucher was all over the ice for the Senators, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Faucher scored the first of his two goals at 4:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa. Zach Car picked up the assist. Faucher's next tally made the score 3-2 Ottawa with 3:42 left in the second period. Ottawa earned a power play opportunity when Yannick Bertrand was put in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Robert Michel provided the assist. The Senators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Ottawa kept the Rangers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Doug Johnston made 34 saves on 38 shots. Ottawa also got points from Watt, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Daniel Sarracco as well. More assists for Ottawa came via Charles Corriveau, Joey Champigny, and Geoffrey Lawson, who contributed one each. The Senators were unable to stop Gloucester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Matt Foget also scored for Gloucester. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Bobby Williams, Zachary Borsoi, Chris Morgan, Matt Adams, and Liam Biard, who each chipped in one. Ottawa's Alexandre Savard-Belanger stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Senators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gloucester incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
