Cornwall rides Dubblestyne to victory over Hawkesbury, 3-1Robert Hartley Sports Complex1 Fri, Dec 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Denny Dubblestyne stood on his head and made 31 saves to lead the Cornwall Colts to a 3-1 victory over the Hawkesbury Hawks. Cornwall's penalty kill excelled, as the Colts gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Cornwall was led by Tristen Elie, who finished with one goal. Elie scored on the power play 16:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. The Colts had taken the advantage when Hawkesbury's Nicholas Centauro got sent off for head contact. Cal Hofford picked up the assist. Cornwall stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cornwall also got points from Hofford, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Grant Cooper also scored for Cornwall. More assists for Cornwall came via Dean Derouchie, Marly Quince, Nick Lalonde, and Jackson Parker, who each chipped in one. Hawkesbury did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Hawks average 3.1 goals per game. The Colts were unable to stop Hawkesbury from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Hawkesbury was led by Ross Mandigo, who scored the team's only goal. Mandigo scored 5:31 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Hunter Racine provided the assist. Cornwall incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. CJ Sharp rejected 22 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
