Brockville uses shootout to best Kemptville, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Brockville Braves defeated the Kemptville 73s in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.

Brockville saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Braves made the score 4-1 on a goal by Neil Robinson at 18:53 in the second period. Kemptville evened things up at 4-4 on a goal by Quinn Wichers at 15:56 in the third period.

Liam Folkes was all over the ice for Brockville, as he racked up two goals in the win. Folkes scored at 9:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brockville and again while 18:27 into the first to make the score 3-1 Brockville.

Brockville also got points from Eric Israel, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Robinson, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Brockville received assists from Dylan McCrory, who had two and Landon Gareau, Francesco Tolfa, and Andrew Peski, who each chipped in one.

The 73s stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brockville was unable to stop Kemptville from sending pucks towards the net, and the 73s eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Kemptville was helped by Matt Tugnutt, who finished with one goal. Tugnutt scored 17:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Brockville. Brandon Lesway picked up the assist. Kemptville additionally got points from Dean Galasso, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kemptville also got a goal from Shane Riddell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Owen Guy and Brandon Cole, who contributed one each and Kaelan OFlynn and Shawn Cameron, who each chipped in two.

Mitchell Datz rejected 35 shots on goal for the Braves. Brockville totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Braves ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Jarvis was ejected from the game. Jacob Tugnutt made 22 saves for the 73s on 26 shots. Kemptville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For the 73s, Rob Grant was ejected from the game.
