Huge game by Zizek boosts Nepean over Cumberland, 7-2

Behind a great game by Josh Zizek, who had one goal and three assists, the Nepean Raiders defeated the Cumberland Grads, 7-2.

Zizek got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 14:50 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nepean had gotten the advantage when Cumberland's Chandler Watson was sent off for tripping. Luke McCaw picked up the assist. Zizek dished an assist on William White's goal that made the score 2-1 Nepean at 1:16 into the second period. He then added assists on Felix Page's goal at 9:52 into the second and on Benoit Villeneuve's goal at 5:42 into the third.

The Grads fell victim to a deadly the Raiders power play, which ripped Cumberland for four goals.

Nepean forced Grads' goalies to work between the pipes, firing 57 shots and forcing 50 saves. Kevin Gollmer made 39 stops and Cole Ceci made 11. The Raiders outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Nepean averages 3.0 goals per contest.

Nepean additionally got points from Page, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mac MacSorley also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Devin Fullum and Dakota Ford, who contributed one each and Corey Tam, Rory Garlasco, and Brandon Belding, who each chipped in two.

The Grads forced the Raiders goalie Francis Marotte to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Cumberland was helped by Branden Makara, who had one goal. Makara scored on the power play 13:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland. The Grads earned a power play opportunity when McCaw was put in the box for hooking. Martin Frechette provided the assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Tyler Pancel as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Zackhary Salloum, who had one.

Marotte recorded 33 saves for Nepean. The Raiders incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cumberland incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
