Kemptville beats Nepean 5-2 as Brown gets hat trick

The Nepean Raiders could not stop the Kemptville 73s' Erik Brown, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win.

Brown notched his first tally 1:39 into the second period. He then added goals at 2:18 into the third and at 18:19 into the third.

Kemptville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Kemptville also got points from Alex Row, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Tyler Young also scored for Kemptville. More assists for Kemptville came via Jason Tackett, who had three and Brandon Cole and Matt Tugnutt, who each chipped in one.

The 73s were unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Nepean was helped by Shane Riddell, who grabbed one goal. Riddell scored 16:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. Felix Page picked up the assist. Nepean also got a goal from Chad Malinowski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Dakota Ford and Daniel Urbani, who contributed one each.

Nicholas Hodgins made 29 saves for Kemptville on 31 shots. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Urbani rejected 24 shots on goal for the Raiders. Nepean incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
