Cornwall beats Kemptville 3-0 as Nichol gains shutout

Brett Nichol recorded a shutout against the Kemptville 73s as the Cornwall Colts picked up a 3-0 win.

Keegan Mulhearn had a great game for Cornwall, netting two goals. Mulhearn's tallies came at 4:12 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall and 18:11 into the third to make the score 3-0 Cornwall.

The Colts' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kemptville power plays. Cornwall's defense was surprisingly good. The Colts gives up 2.9 goals on average per game. Cornwall forced Kemptville goalie Jacob Tugnutt to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Cornwall also got points from Kevin Hope, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Cal Hofford, Tristen Elie, Adam Lane, Jackson Parker, and Zac Tierney, who each chipped in one.

The 73s could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Kemptville puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. The 73s' offense rang up 36 shots on the Colts' net.

Brett Nichol made 36 saves for Cornwall on 36 shots. The Colts incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tugnutt rejected 30 shots on goal for Kemptville. The 73s incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
