Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Hawkesbury Hawks defeated the Pembroke Lumber Kings in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout.Ross Mandigo had two goals to lead Hawkesbury to victory. Mandigo's tallies came at 6:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury and 19:53 into the third to make the score 3-3. The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Pembroke power plays. Brandon Barillaro also scored for Hawkesbury. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Pierre Ouellette, Jason Brochu, CJ Stubbs, Jonathan Cyr, and Hunter Racine, who contributed one each. Pembroke stifled Hawkesbury's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lumber Kings were helped by Stephen Cooney, who registered one goal. Cooney scored 17:44 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. Colton Keuhl provided the assist. Pembroke also got points from Jesse Blais, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Anthony Nellis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Pembroke came via Dylan Chase, who had one. The Hawks' Gunner Rivers stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Hawkesbury incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Joel Horodziejczyk rejected 25 shots on goal for Pembroke. The Lumber Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
