Kanata falls to Hawkesbury after surprising comebackKanata Recreational Complex Thu, Nov 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hawkesbury Hawks rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Kanata Stallions. Hawkesbury let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Hawks took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Jason Brochu at 19:16 in the first period. Hawkesbury went down 2-0 after Kanata's Tyler ONeill put the puck home at 4:14 in the first period. After tying things up at 4-4 on a goal by Hugo Petit at 19:14 in the second, the Hawks got the game-winner from Phil Johansson at 6:05 in the third period. Hawkesbury got the win on the strength of a great game by Johansson, who had one goal and two assists. The Hawks kept the Stallions' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brian Wilson made 27 saves on 32 shots. Hawkesbury also got points from Ross Mandigo, who also had one goal and one assist and CJ Stubbs, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Rory Gagnon, Tristan Perreault-Gagnon, and Hunter Racine, who each chipped in one. Kanata additionally got points from Ian Johnston, who also registered one goal and one assist and ONeill, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. In addition, Kanata received assists from Bryce Biller, Ethan MacLean, and James Thomson, who contributed one each. CJ Sharp recorded 22 saves for Hawkesbury. The Hawks totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Hawkesbury ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Marc-Antoine Bourbonnais was ejected from the game. Kanata totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Team's Johnny Kyte and Dylan Mascarin were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
