Kanata hangs on, beats Ottawa 2-0Kanata Recreational Complex Thu, Oct 30, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kanata Stallions took the lead against the Ottawa Senators in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory. A goal 15:16 into the first period by Jean-Philippe Langlois proved to be the game winner, and powered Kanata to the victory. A high sticking penalty on Joey Champigny had put the Stallions on the power play. Ian Johnston provided the assist.Langlois had a great game for Kanata, netting two goals. Brian Wilson frustrated Ottawa's offense all game, and stopped 40 shots en route to a shutout. Wilson certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.9 entering the contest. The Stallions put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Senators to score on any of their five power plays. More assists for Kanata came via Ethan MacLean and Nic Marchand, who each chipped in one. Ottawa could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Senators average 3.8 goals per game. Ottawa forced Kanata goalie Wilson to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Stallions incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alexandre Savard-Belanger rejected 24 shots on goal for the Senators. Ottawa incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
