Morin's big game bests Kanata in 7-4 Cumberland winNavan Memorial Centre Sun, Oct 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Matthew Morin had two goals and two assists to lead the Cumberland Grads to a 7-4 victory over the Kanata Stallions. Morin found the back of the net on the power play 12:42 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Cumberland and again while 14:18 into the second to make the score 6-2 Cumberland.Cumberland kept Kanata's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brian Wilson made 34 saves on 41 shots. The Grads found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Cumberland averages 2.4 goals per game. Cumberland also got points from Travis Douglas, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Chandler Watson, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Cumberland also had goals scored by Reid Murphy, Martin Frechette, and Brett Faber, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Nicolas Mattinen, who had two and Bobby Williams, Nicholas Ngwafusi, Thomas Mansbridge, Brandon Zullo, Ted McCabe, Peter Sigouin, and Ethan Wensink, who contributed one each. The Stallions were helped by Louis-Charles Croteau, who racked up one goal. Croteau scored 9:54 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cumberland. Ethan MacLean assisted on the tally. Kanata additionally got points from Domenic Camastra, who also registered one goal and one assist and MacLean, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kanata also got a goal from Rowan Savidant as well. More assists for Kanata came via Devin Fullum and Arik Breton, who each chipped in one. The Grads' Kevin Gollmer stopped 19 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Cumberland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Grads ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Murphy was ejected from the game. Kanata incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
