Ottawa uses shootout to best Pembroke, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Ottawa Senators defeated the Pembroke Lumber Kings in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.

Ottawa overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Senators was down 2-0 after a goal by Pembroke's Brett Horn at 5:43 in the first period. Ottawa tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Brett du Puy at 2:52 in the third period.

The Senators kept the Lumber Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Hughes made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Ottawa was helped by Cody Bean, who tallied one goal. Bean scored on the power play 19:07 into the first period to make the score 2-2. An interference penalty on Hudson Michaelis had put the Senators on the power play. Jim Pearson picked up the assist. Ottawa also had goals scored by Robert Michel and Charles Corriveau, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Shawn Lynch, who had two.

Pembroke could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Pembroke also got a goal from Jesse Blais as well. More assists for Pembroke came via Anthony Nellis, who had one and Alexandre Boivin, who had two.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger rejected 16 shots on goal for Ottawa. The Senators incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Lumber Kings registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
