Nepean downs Kanata, 5-2

Josh Zizek finished with one point to lead the Nepean Raiders to a 5-2 victory over the Kanata Stallions.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:02 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Nepean stifled Kanata's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Raiders' offense rang up 45 shots on the Stallions' net.

Nepean also got points from Felix Page, who also had one goal and one assist and Brandon Watt, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Nepean also had goals scored by Jody Sullivan and Luke McCaw, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Corey Tam, who had two, Shane Riddell, who had three, and Broydon Stufko, Nicolas Vlahos, and Mac MacSorley, who each chipped in one.

Kanata's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Nepean's power play unit.

The Stallions were led by Domenic Camastra, who registered one goal and one assist. Camastra scored 4:01 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kanata. Joey Laird assisted on the tally. Kanata also got a goal from Johnny Kyte as well. In addition, Kanata received assists from Ethan MacLean, who had one.

The Raiders' Daniel Urbani stopped 14 shots out of the 16 that he faced. Nepean ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandon Belding was ejected from the game. Brian Wilson made 40 saves for Kanata on 45 shots. The Stallions totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. For Kanata, Mike Tropea was ejected from the game.
