Cumberland downs Cornwall in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Navan Memorial Centre Sun, Oct 05, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cumberland Grads pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Cornwall Colts on a clutch goal by Tyler Pancel. Cumberland was paced by Pancel, who tallied one goal. Pancel scored 1:29 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Cumberland. Matthew Morin picked up the assist. The Grads kept Cornwall's goalie busy throughout the game, and Denny Dubblestyne made 28 saves on 31 shots. Others who scored for Cumberland included Brandon Zullo and Riley Hennigar, who each put in one. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Thomas Mansbridge, who had two and Bobby Williams and Cameron Roth, who contributed one each. The Colts put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cumberland to score on any of its four power plays. Cornwall was led by Kevin Hope, who registered one goal and one assist. Hope scored on the power play 14:09 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A high sticking penalty on Hennigar had put the Colts on the power play. Marly Quince provided the assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Ross Craig as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Zac Tierney, who had two. The Grads' Paul Leger stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Cumberland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cornwall incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
