Kemptville falls to Ottawa in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Joey Champigny gave the Ottawa Senators a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Kemptville 73s when he scored 36 seconds into the extra period.

Ottawa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with eight penalty minutes.

The Senators were sparked by Champigny, who registered one goal.

Ottawa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kemptville to score on any of its six power plays. The Senators' offense rang up 33 shots on the 73s' net.

Others who scored for Ottawa included Carl Faucher and Geoffrey Lawson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Ottawa came via Jim Pearson, who had two and Robert Michel, Matthew Cruickshank, and Isaac Anderson, who each chipped in one.

Kemptville was helped by Jason Tackett, who had one goal. Tackett scored 18:08 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Kemptville. Cameron Russell assisted on the tally. Cody Hendsbee also scored for Kemptville. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Owen Guy, Jake Gaudet, and Daniel Monk, who contributed one each.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 22 saves for Ottawa on 24 shots. The Senators registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Jacob Tugnutt rejected 30 shots on goal for the 73s. Kemptville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the 73s, Kaelan OFlynn was ejected from the game.
