Brockville survives Gloucester comeback, wins 6-4

The Brockville Braves survived a determined comeback attempt by the Gloucester Rangers on the way to a 6-4 win.

Brockville took a 6-3 lead during the third period, only to have Gloucester storm back on a Lucas Zwaagstra goal 18:53 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Braves got the win behind a great game by Liam Folkes, who had two goals and one assist. Folkes scored the first of his two goals at 18:06 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Sean King assisted on the tally. Folkes' next tally made the score 3-2 Brockville with 6:20 left in the second period. Jack Billings picked up the assist.

Brockville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Gloucester power plays. The Braves' offense rang up 31 shots on the Rangers' net. Brockville bested its season scoring average. The Braves average 3.7 goals per game.

Brockville also got points from Billings, who also tallied one goal and two assists and King, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Brockville included Brett Van Stralen and DAndre John, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Owen Gill, Tyler Greenberg, Blake Carrick, Francesco Iannantuono, and Andrew Peski, who each chipped in one.

Brockville was unable to stop Gloucester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Gloucester's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Braves' power play unit.

The Rangers were helped by Matt Adams, who racked up one goal. Adams scored 5:19 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Brockville. Joey Fallon provided the assist. Gloucester additionally got points from Fallon, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Matt Foget also scored for Gloucester. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Ryan Kuffner and Vincent Guimond, who contributed one each.

David Poirier rejected 33 shots on goal for Brockville. The Braves incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Doug Johnston made 25 saves for Gloucester on 31 shots. The Rangers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
