Sarracco's big game bests Kemptville in 7-2 Ottawa win

Daniel Sarracco had one goal and three assists to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 7-2 victory over the Kemptville 73s.

Sarracco scored 8:16 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Ottawa. Brendan Valko picked up the assist. Sarracco dished an assist on Shawn Lynch's goal that made the score 3-0 Ottawa at 10:41 into the first period. He then added assists on Jim Pearson's goal at 15:16 into the second and on Valko's goal at 9:34 into the third.

Ottawa forced 73s' netminders to work all game long, launching 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Nicholas Hodgins made six stops and Jacob Tugnutt made 22. The Senators stifled Kemptville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Ottawa found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Senators average 3.3 goals per game.

Ottawa additionally got points from Carl Faucher, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Valko, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Cody Bean, who also registered one goal and one assist. Connor Bebb also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Sean Rappleyea, who had two and Robert Michel, Johnathan Kovacevic, Zach Car, and Geoffrey Lawson, who contributed one each.

The 73s forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Kemptville had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Others who scored for Kemptville included Aaron Hickie and Shawn Cameron, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Jake Gaudet, Matt Tugnutt, and Tyler Young, who each chipped in one.

Ian Andriano rejected 22 shots on goal for Ottawa. The Senators incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Ottawa ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Thomas Crevier was ejected from the game. The 73s registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. For Kemptville, Rob Grant was ejected from the game.
