Lalonde's goals lift Cornwall to 4-1 victory over HawkesburyEd Lumley Arena Thu, Sep 25, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cornwall Colts relied on the scoring touch of Nick Lalonde, who netted two goals, to beat the Hawkesbury Hawks, 4-1. Lalonde's tallies came at 4:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall and 6:28 into the third to make the score 3-1 Cornwall.Hawkesbury was stymied by Cornwall's netminder Denny Dubblestyne, who stopped 42 shots during the victory. Dubblestyne managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.61 prior to the game. The Colts pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes. Cornwall's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Hawkesbury power plays. Kevin Hope also scored for Cornwall. More assists for Cornwall came via Zac Tierney, Marly Quince, Adam Lane, Jay DAmour, Hugo Petit, and Peter Angelopoulos, who each chipped in one. The Hawks stifled the Colts' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hawkesbury could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Hawks put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Hawkesbury's offense rang up 43 shots on Cornwall's net. The Hawks were led by Alex Anderson, who scored the team's only goal. Anderson scored 11:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Hunter Racine provided the assist. The Colts registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Gunner Rivers rejected 23 shots on goal for Hawkesbury. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
