Cornwall holds on for 4-2 win against NepeanNepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Sun, Sep 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Cornwall Colts held on for a 4-2 victory. Cornwall took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Nepean storm back on a Felix Page goal 19:10 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The Colts were led by Dean Derouchie, who had one goal. Derouchie scored 13:59 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cornwall. Tristan Conrad picked up the assist. Cornwall's offense rang up 35 shots on the Raiders' net. Cornwall also got points from Marly Quince, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Peter Angelopoulos, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Adam Lane also scored for Cornwall. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Kevin Hope, who had two and Cal Hofford, Zac Tierney, and Thomas Hargrave, who contributed one each. Nepean put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Colts to score on any of their four power plays. The Raiders were helped by Jody Sullivan, who grabbed one goal. Sullivan scored 3:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. More assists for Nepean came via Josh Zizek and Broydon Stufko, who each chipped in one. Cornwall's Denny Dubblestyne stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Colts incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Leif Hertz rejected 31 shots on goal for Nepean. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
