MacDougall's goals lift Cornwall to 5-2 victory over Kemptville

The Cornwall Colts relied on the scoring touch of Lawson MacDougall, who netted two goals, to beat the Kemptville 73s, 5-2.

MacDougall's tallies came at 7:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall and 12:18 into the second to make the score 3-1 Cornwall.

Cornwall's offense rang up 39 shots on Kemptville's net.

Cornwall additionally got points from Zac Tierney, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cornwall included Cal Hofford and Keegan Mulhearn, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Nick Lalonde, who had two, Jay DAmour, who had three, and Ross Craig, Dean Derouchie, Tristan Conrad, and Kevin Hope, who contributed one each.

The 73s could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Kemptville was helped by Alex Row, who finished with one goal. Row scored on the power play 13:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A roughing penalty on Peter Angelopoulos had put the 73s on the power play. Matt Tugnutt assisted on the tally. Kemptville also got a goal from Dean Galasso as well. More assists for Kemptville came via Quinn Wichers, Kaelan OFlynn, and Shawn Cameron, who each chipped in one.

Denny Dubblestyne made 18 saves for the Colts on 20 shots. Cornwall incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Kemptville's Jacob Tugnutt stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The 73s registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
