Hawkesbury shrugs off penalties, upends Nepean, 5-2Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Wed, Sep 17, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hawkesbury Hawks' penalty kill was superb, as Hawkesbury survived multiple penalties to beat the Nepean Raiders, 5-2. The Hawks were paced by Rory Gagnon, who tallied one goal and one assist. Gagnon scored on the power play 9:08 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Hawkesbury. Hawkesbury had gained a power play chance when Diego Gagnon was whistled for slashing. Jonathan Cyr assisted on the tally. The Hawks got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Others who scored for Hawkesbury included Damien Charette, Jason Brochu, Phil Johansson, and Liam Alcalde, who scored one goal each. More assists for Hawkesbury came via CJ Stubbs, William Flynn, and Chris Harper, who contributed one each. Nepean's offense rang up 36 shots on Hawkesbury's net. Nepean also got a goal from Jody Sullivan as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Dakota Ford, Shane Riddell, Jack Kilrea, and Mac MacSorley, who each chipped in one. Gunner Rivers made 34 saves for the Hawks on 36 shots. Hawkesbury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Will King recorded 18 saves for the Raiders. Nepean incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
