Brockville uses shootout to best Smiths Falls, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Brockville Braves defeated the Smiths Falls Bears in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. In addition to the clincher, Brockville got a shootout goal from Liam Folkes.

The Braves were helped by Folkes, who registered one goal. Folkes scored 17:40 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Francesco Iannantuono picked up the assist. Brockville additionally got points from Eric Israel, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Brett Van Stralen, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Brockville came via Andrew Peski, who had two.

Smiths Falls forced Brockville goalie David Poirier to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Bears were helped by Karson McCartney, who grabbed one goal. McCartney scored 19:16 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Domenic Camastra provided the assist. Others who scored for Smiths Falls included Taylor Henry and Nicolas Coates, who each put in one. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Jared Henry, Sebastien Barrette, Neil Doef, and Cole Busschaert, who each chipped in one.

Poirier rejected 29 shots on goal for the Braves. Brockville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Michael Pinios recorded 19 saves for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
