Nepean uses shootout to best Ottawa, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Nepean Raiders defeated the Ottawa Senators in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.

Nepean forced Senators' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots and forcing 31 saves. Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 13 stops and Ian Andriano made 18.

The Raiders were helped by Jack Kilrea, who grabbed one goal. Kilrea scored 8:51 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dakota Ford assisted on the tally. Nepean also had goals scored by Felix Page and Brandon Watt, who scored one goal each. In addition, Nepean received assists from Cody Calcagno, Jody Sullivan, Diego Gagnon, and Tristan Perreault-Gagnon, who contributed one each.

Ottawa excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Senators kept Nepean's goalie busy throughout the game, and Will King made 38 saves on 41 shots.

Ottawa was helped by Jim Pearson, who finished with one goal. Pearson scored 46 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-2. Ottawa additionally got points from Shawn Lynch, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Brendan Valko as well. More assists for Ottawa came via Charles Corriveau, who had one and Joey Champigny, who had two.

The Raiders incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Senators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
