Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Gloucester Rangers defeated the Cumberland Grads in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.Gloucester came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Rangers trailed 3-2 after a goal by Cumberland's Cody Kyle at 14:16 in the second period. Gloucester knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jared Leslie at 2:22 in the third period. The Rangers were led by Leslie, who finished with one goal. Others who scored for Gloucester included Vincent Guimond and Matt Adams, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Joey Fallon, who had two and Branden Makara and Cameron Hughes, who contributed one each. The Grads' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Gloucester power plays. Gloucester was unable to stop Cumberland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Grads eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Ted McCabe also scored for Cumberland. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Brandon Zullo, who had two and Travis Douglas, Thomas Mansbridge, and Matthew Morin, who each chipped in one. David Richer recorded 28 saves for the Rangers. Gloucester incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cumberland's Kevin Gollmer stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Grads incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
