Poirier, Brockville blank Hawkesbury, 4-0

The Brockville Braves used a sparkling performance by David Poirier to take down the Hawkesbury Hawks, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Brockville's 4-0 shutout victory.

The Braves' penalty kill excelled, as Brockville gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Braves were led by Andrew Peski, who grabbed one goal. Peski scored on the power play 18:13 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brockville. Brockville had gotten the advantage when Hawkesbury's Damien Charette was sent off for cross checking. Sean King provided the assist.

The Braves forced Hawks' goaltenders to work in net, racking up 33 shots and forcing 29 saves. Daniel Potter made 28 stops and Jean-Pascal Sabourin made one. Brockville stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Braves' defense was surprisingly good. Brockville gives up 2.3 goals on average per game.

Brockville also got a goal from Owen Gill as well. In addition, Brockville received assists from Landon Gareau, Jack Billings, Connor Bebb, Francesco Iannantuono, Zach Masterson, and Steven Windt, who contributed one each.

Hawkesbury could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Hawks put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Poirier recorded 25 saves for the Braves. Brockville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Hawkesbury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
