Denny Dubblestyne spearheaded the defensive effort for Cornwall, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 26 saves for the shutout. Dubblestyne certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.31 entering the contest.

The Colts excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Cornwall's offense operated below its season average. The Colts put an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game.

Ottawa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Cornwall power plays.
