Carleton Place rolls over Nepean, 6-1

The Carleton Place Canadians had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Nepean Raiders.

Carleton Place got the win behind a great game by Adam Lloyd, who had two goals and one assist. Lloyd scored the first of his two goals at 4:22 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place. Wesley Baker provided the assist. Lloyd's next tally made the score 3-0 Carleton Place with 11:16 left in the second period.

Nepean was stymied by the Canadians' netminder Adrian Clarke, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Even though Clarke played well, his goals against average suffered, as his one goal against exceeded his season average of 1.0.

Carleton Place racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Canadians surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Carleton Place excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Canadians bested their season scoring average. Carleton Place averages 3.8 goals per game. The defensemen of the Canadians were also effective in the Raiders' zone, and came away with two goals.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Baker, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Carleton Place also had goals scored by Connor Merkley, Brett Garvey, and Trent Shore, who scored one goal each. More assists for Carleton Place came via Andrew Dodson, who had two and Andy Sturtz, Bryce VanHorn, and Stephen Baylis, who each chipped in one.

Nepean did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Raiders put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. Carleton Place was unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Nepean was led by Diego Gagnon, who scored the team's only goal. Gagnon scored 19:01 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Carleton Place.

The Canadians registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Team's Devin Campbell and Baylis were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Will King made 22 saves for the Raiders on 28 shots. Nepean ended with 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. For the Raiders, Cody Calcagno, Jody Sullivan, and Brandon Belding were ejected from the contest.
