Stouffville boosted by Taylor's play in net, beats Wellington 3-1Stouffville Arena Mon, Feb 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit relied on the sparkling performance of Aaron Taylor in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Wellington Dukes. Stouffville's penalty kill excelled, as the Spirit gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. Stouffville was paced by Nathan Hudgin, who tallied one goal. Hudgin scored 13:34 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stouffville. The Spirit stifled Wellington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dukes were unable to stop Stouffville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Spirit eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Stouffville also had goals scored by Tyson Bruce and Alex Gilmour, who scored one goal each. More assists for Stouffville came via Matthew Heffernan, Christopher Brill-Morgan, and Michael Giacometti, who each chipped in one. Wellington did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Dukes put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Wellington kept Stouffville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Taylor made 30 saves on 31 shots. The Dukes were led by Greg Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored 2:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Jake Falcao picked up the assist. The Spirit incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Daniel Potter made 40 saves for Wellington on 42 shots. The Dukes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
