Trenton takes care of Pickering early, wins 9-1

The Trenton Golden Hawks opened up a five-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-1 win over the Pickering Panthers.

Brady Wiffen was all over the ice for Trenton, as he tallied two goals and three assists in the win. Wiffen scored the first of his two goals at 4:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Zach de Concilys assisted on the tally. Wiffen's next tally made the score 5-0 Trenton with 1:03 left in the first period. De Concilys picked up the assist.

The Golden Hawks forced Pickering goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Trenton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Golden Hawks average 5.0 goals per game.

Trenton also got points from Danny Liscio, who also registered one goal and two assists and de Concilys, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. Liam Morgan also scored for Trenton. In addition, Trenton received assists from Riley Brown, Kevin Lavoie, Chrisitian Lloyd, and Luke Hincenbergs, who each chipped in one and Christian DiFelice, Loren Ulett, and Braden Hellems, who contributed two each.

The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Pickering was held below its usual level of production. The Panthers average 3.5 goals per game. Pickering's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Panthers finished with 38 penalty minutes.

Pickering also got a goal from Mark Tenuta as well. More assists for Pickering came via Sean Power and Chris Sekelyk, who each chipped in one.

Brown rejected 24 shots on goal for Trenton. The Golden Hawks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Washkurak recorded 33 saves for Pickering. The Panthers registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
