Kingston uses big second period to beat Pickering, 9-1

The Pickering Panthers allowed the Kingston Voyageurs to net five goals during the second period and fell, 9-1.

Adam Brady had two goals and two assists to lead Kingston. Brady scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:51 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kingston. The Voyageurs had gained a power play chance when Cam Palmer was whistled for interference. Ryan Watson picked up the assist. Brady's next tally on the power play made the score 5-0 Kingston with 5:16 left in the second period. Spencer Green provided the assist.

Pickering fell victim to a deadly Kingston power play, which ripped the Panthers for four goals.

The Voyageurs forced Pickering's goalies to work in net, racking up 38 shots and forcing 29 saves. Austin Washkurak made 21 stops and Eric Pitcher made eight. Kingston's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Pickering power plays. The Voyageurs bested their season scoring average. Kingston averages 3.9 goals per game.

Kingston additionally got points from Colin Tonge, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Cole Bolton, who also had three goals and one assist, Alex Tonge, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Alex Stothart, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Kingston came via Rory McGuire, who had two and Josh Hicks, Zachary Emelifeonwu, Jaylon Gorman, Joey Rutkowski, and Reid Russell, who contributed one each.

The Panthers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Pickering averages 3.6 goals per game.

In addition, Pickering received assists from Sean Power and Aidan Parker, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Urbani rejected 24 shots on goal for the Voyageurs. Kingston ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Team's Michael Crocock and Matt Hoover were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Panthers ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Pickering, Chris Sekelyk and Justin Bennett were ejected from the contest.
