Adams lifts Georgetown over Whitby, 2-1

Behind a great game by John Adams, who had two goals, the Georgetown Raiders defeated the Whitby Fury, 2-1.

Adams' tallies came at 9:51 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown and on the power play 13:12 into the third to make the score 2-1 Georgetown.

Georgetown's Jack LaFontaine was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of LaFontaine will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.06.

The Raiders' offense rang up 33 shots on Whitby's net.

Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Eric Eustace, who had one and Steve Hladin, who had two.

The Fury managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. Whitby finished below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Fury's offense operated below their season average. Whitby puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Fury's offense rang up 31 shots on Georgetown's net.

Whitby was led by Ryan Erickson, who scored the team's only goal. Erickson scored 10:48 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Jeremy Wu provided the assist.

The Raiders incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tyler Feaver made 31 saves for the Fury on 33 shots. Whitby registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
