Trenton downs Burlington in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Trenton Golden Hawks pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Burlington Cougars on a clutch goal by Willy Paul.

Trenton overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Golden Hawks was down 4-2 after a goal by Burlington's Jack Jeffers at 8:45 in the third period. Trenton tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Brady Wiffen at 4:19 in the fifth period.

The Cougars were unable to stop the Golden Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Trenton eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Trenton included Kevin Lavoie and Michael Siddall, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Bobby Polachek, Braedyn Asselstine, Zach de Concilys, and Hunter Fargey, who contributed one each.

Burlington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Golden Hawks to score on any of their six power plays.

Burlington also got points from Ben Scheel, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kyle West also scored for Burlington. In addition, Burlington received assists from Nicholas Holt, David Thomson, Dustin Burr, and Daniel Volpe, who each chipped in one.

Trenton took out Riley Brown after he had made 20 saves and installed Justin Kapelmaster in goal, where he finished with five saves and the win. The Golden Hawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Andrew Lee made 33 saves for the Cougars on 38 shots. Burlington incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
