Aaron Taylor recorded a shutout against the Newmarket Hurricanes as the Stouffville Spirit picked up a 5-0 win. Newmarket's power play was ineffective against Stouffville's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Spirit forced the Hurricanes' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 36 shots and forcing 31 saves. Connor Ryckman made 12 stops and Tyler Richardson made 19. Stouffville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 10 chances. The Spirit's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Stouffville finished with 26 penalty minutes. The Spirit were helped by Christopher Brill-Morgan, who racked up one goal. Brill-Morgan scored on the power play 3:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. A tripping penalty on Joseph Mizzi had put Stouffville on the power play. Spencer Roberts assisted on the tally. Stouffville additionally got points from Chad Burrows, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tyson Bruce, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Joseph Deveny, who also had one goal and one assist. Alex Gilmour also scored for Stouffville. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Greg Allen, Robert Clark, and Nathan Hudgin, who each chipped in one. Newmarket did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Hurricanes average 3.2 goals per game. Newmarket's offense rang up 38 shots on the Spirit's net. Penalties took their toll on the Hurricanes, as their penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. Taylor recorded 38 saves for Stouffville. For the Spirit, Brill-Morgan was ejected from the game. Newmarket incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
