Buffalo blows out Mississauga, 5-2

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Mississauga Chargers.

Buffalo got the win on the strength of a great game by Christopher Berger, who had one goal and two assists. Berger scored on the power play 18:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Buffalo. A tripping penalty on Marco Mattina had put the Jr. Sabres on the power play. Daniel Lafontaine assisted on the tally.

Buffalo also got points from Tim Nicksic, who also registered one goal and one assist. Buffalo also had goals scored by Josh Gabriel, Brenden Dunning, and Chris Moses, who scored one goal each. More assists for Buffalo came via Aiden Salerno, David Baskerville, Tim Kielich, Justin Cmunt, Bray Crowder, and Zach Evancho, who contributed one each.

Mississauga was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

The Chargers were led by Austin Galli, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Galli scored on the power play 12:56 into the third period to make the score 5-2 Buffalo. Mississauga had gotten the advantage when Buffalo's Lafontaine was sent off for too many men. Domenic Commisso picked up the assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Phillip Chadder as well. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Steve Mariani and Troy Taylor, who each chipped in one.

Nate Skidmore rejected 25 shots on goal for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alex Lepore made 21 saves for the Chargers on 26 shots. Mississauga registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
