Lindsay holds on for 3-2 win against Newmarket

The Lindsay Muskies survived a determined comeback attempt by the Newmarket Hurricanes on the way to a 3-2 win.

Lindsay took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Newmarket storm back on a Cameron Nicoll goal 18:32 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Muskies were sparked by Owen Barnett, who racked up one goal. Barnett scored 10:12 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Lindsay. Logan DeNoble picked up the assist.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Lindsay also got points from Brandon Washer, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Austin Eastman also scored for Lindsay. More assists for Lindsay came via Kristopher Diclemente, Matthew Marchese, and Keegan Cairns, who each chipped in one.

The Hurricanes forced Lindsay goalie Boyd Diclemente to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. Newmarket could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Hurricanes were helped by Ryan Shaw, who tallied one goal. Shaw scored 8:29 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Curtis Harvey provided the assist. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Mitchell Duggan, Jonathan Colley, and Ryan Young, who contributed one each.

Diclemente recorded 46 saves for the Muskies. Lindsay incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Connor Ryckman made 20 saves for Newmarket on 23 shots. The Hurricanes registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
