Toronto Patriots shrugs off penalties, upends Oakville, 4-1

The Oakville Blades failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Toronto Patriots Patriots shook off a number of penalties to win, 4-1.

Toronto Patriots was sparked by Nathan Feric, who racked up one goal. Feric scored 19:28 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Toronto Patriots. Mitch Emerson provided the assist.

The Patriots found themselves short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Toronto Patriots additionally got points from Emerson, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Jacob Hayhurst, who also registered one goal and one assist. Toronto Patriots also got a goal from Nicholas Ursitti as well. More assists for Toronto Patriots came via Kody Gagnon, who had one and Niko Kovachis, who had two.

Oakville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blades average 3.6 goals per game.

Oakville was led by Greg Campbell, who scored the team's only goal. Campbell scored on the power play 9:05 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Toronto Patriots. The Blades earned a power play opportunity when Kovachis was put in the box for tripping. Matthew McLeod picked up the assist.

Emanuel Vella made 24 saves for Toronto Patriots on 25 shots. The Patriots registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Daniel Mannella recorded 22 saves for Oakville. The Blades ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Oakville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tanner Shaw was ejected from the game.
