GAME RECAP

Wellington rolls over Orangeville, 5-1

Wellington CC    Fri, Jan 30, 2015

The Orangeville Flyers had trouble finding ways to stop the Wellington Dukes, which beat Flyers, 5-1.

Josh Supryka was all over the ice for Wellington, as he tallied two goals in the win. Supryka found the back of the net 7:43 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wellington and again while 2:28 into the third to make the score 3-0 Wellington.

The Dukes pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Wellington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Orangeville power plays. The Dukes' offense rang up 34 shots on Orangeville's net.

Will Cook also scored for Wellington. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Joe McKeown, who had three, Andrew Coupland, Jacob Panetta, and Abbott Girduckis, who each chipped in one, and Luc Brown and Ben Sokay, who contributed two each.

The Flyers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 15.0 minutes per game Orangeville had been spending in the box. The Flyers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Orangeville averages 3.1 goals per game.

Daniel Potter made 21 saves for Wellington on 22 shots. The Dukes registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Nicholas Latinovich rejected 29 shots on goal for the Flyers. For Orangeville, Devon Gillham was ejected from the game.
