A hat trick by Brady Wiffen was the highlight in Golden Hawks' 11-3 win against the Wellington Dukes. Wiffen got on the scoresheet 1:00 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:39 into the first and at 15:53 into the third.Wellington was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Trenton Golden Hawks were able to score four times while on the power play. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:26 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Trenton was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Golden Hawks surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Trenton forced the Dukes' goalies to work in net, racking up 50 shots and forcing 39 saves. Daniel Potter made 29 stops and Olivier Lafreniere made 10. The Golden Hawks' goal total was higher than their season average. Trenton averages 5.0 goals per game. The defensemen of the Golden Hawks were also effective in Wellington's zone, and came away with three goals. Trenton also got points from Tyler Donaldson, who also had two goals and two assists, Chrisitian Lloyd, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Zach de Concilys, who also had two goals and one assist, Hunter Fargey, who also registered one goal and three assists, and Braden Hellems, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. In addition, Trenton received assists from Danny Liscio, who had two and Liam Morgan, Kevin Lavoie, Blayne Oliver, Michael Siddall, Matt Pizzo, Luke Hincenbergs, and Nick Santoro, who each chipped in one. The Dukes forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and one major for 49 minutes in penalty time. Wellington had been averaging 12.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Dukes were helped by Will Cook, who finished with two goals. Cook scored the first of his two goals at 16:10 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. Joe McKeown picked up the assist. Cook's next tally made the score 3-2 Trenton with 15:42 left in the second period. Abbott Girduckis provided the assist. Wellington additionally got points from Girduckis, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Wellington came via Brody Morris and Jacob Hetherington, who contributed one each. Riley Brown rejected 21 shots on goal for Trenton. For the Golden Hawks, Loren Ulett and Liscio were ejected from the contest. Wellington registered one goal on two power play opportunities. For the Dukes, Morris was ejected from the game.
