Durante, Cobourg blank North York, 3-0

The Cobourg Cougars used a sparkling performance by Stefano Durante to take down the North York Rangers, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Cobourg's 3-0 shutout victory.

The Cougars pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 42 penalty minutes.

Cobourg was paced by Austin Veleke, who tallied one goal. Veleke scored 8:43 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Theo Lewis picked up the assist.

The Cougars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Cobourg featured an improved defense during the game. The Cougars allow 2.4 goals per game.

Cobourg also got a goal from Dawson Theede as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Alex Riche, who had two.

North York stifled Cobourg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rangers were held below their usual level of production. North York averages 3.5 goals per game.

Stefano Durante made 25 saves for the Cougars on 25 shots. Cobourg registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Evgueni Makarski recorded 25 saves for the Rangers. North York incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
