The Whitby Fury and the Trenton Golden Hawks skate to 2-2 (OT) tie

Trenton found itself down againt Whitby, but battled back to secure to a tie.

The Fury's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Whitby surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Fury forced the Golden Hawks goalie Justin Kapelmaster to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Whitby was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of nine man advantages.

The Fury were helped by Matt Fischer, who racked up one goal. Fischer scored 17:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Whitby. Kevin Dimagno picked up the assist. Jonathan OHara also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Ryan Sarris and Dakota Kettrick, who each chipped in one.

Trenton forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Golden Hawks had been spending in the box. Trenton did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Golden Hawks put an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. Trenton kept Whitby's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Feaver made 31 saves on 33 shots. The Golden Hawks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Trenton was helped by Braden Hellems, who tallied one goal. Hellems scored on the power play 15:49 into the third period to make the score 2-2. The Golden Hawks had gotten the advantage when the Fury's Scott Kirton was sent off for holding. Kevin Lavoie assisted on the tally. Trenton also got a goal from Loren Ulett as well. More assists for Trenton came via Michael Siddall, who had one.

For Whitby, Austin Fischer was ejected from the game. Kapelmaster rejected 31 shots on goal for Trenton. The Golden Hawks registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For Trenton, Braedyn Asselstine and Chrisitian Lloyd were ejected from the contest.
