Stouffville blows out Pickering, 8-3Stouffville Arena Sat, Jan 24, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pickering Panthers had trouble finding ways to stop the Stouffville Spirit, which beat Panthers, 8-3. Tyson Bruce had a great game for Stouffville, netting two goals. Bruce found the back of the net 16:05 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Stouffville and again while 2:15 into the third to make the score 5-2 Stouffville. The Spirit pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 38 penalty minutes. Stouffville forced Pickering's goalies to work between the pipes, totaling 43 shots and forcing 35 saves. Austin Washkurak made 32 stops and Eric Pitcher made three. The Spirit's goal total was higher than their season average. Stouffville has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Stouffville also got points from Brodie Tutton, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Spencer Roberts, who also had one goal and one assist, and Nick Thomakos, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Stouffville also had goals scored by Matthew Heffernan and Zach Roberts, who each put in one. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Alex Gilmour, who had two, Michael Giacometti, who had three, and Chad Burrows, Robert Clark, Matthew Dunlop, Christopher Brill-Morgan, and Cameron Lintner, who contributed one each. The Panthers kept the Spirit's goalie busy throughout the game, and Aaron Taylor made 39 saves on 42 shots. Team could not crack Stouffville's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Pickering was helped by Riley Devine, who registered one goal. Devine scored 2:32 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Daniel Butchart provided the assist. Others who scored for Pickering included Sean Power and Chris Sekelyk, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Cam Palmer, Aidan Parker, John Hudgin, and Mark Tenuta, who each chipped in one. The Spirit registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Panthers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
